Robert Kim Bingham, Sr.

Quote: “He was stationed in Marseilles, in Southern France and this was right at the time when Hitler was marching across Europe and had taken over Europe, […] he decided to help many people who were fleeing from Hitler coming into southern France. Many refugees who had been refused visas in other consulates realized they should come and see Harry Bingham in Marseilles for one last chance to live.”

Robert Bingham  is the son of Hiram Bingham IV. He served 37 years as a federal attorney for the Office of the General Counsel, U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service. He’s written many legal articles, and published two books. In Courageous Dissent: How Harry Bingham Defied His Government to Save Lives he writes about his father’s World War II rescues in Vichy, France.
